The Bunny Prepares For Liftoff
Yvonne and Norm crewed for the Energizer Bunny piloted by Garry Haruska from Mascoutah, IL, for the last four days of the 2002 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta (except we didn't fly the last day). The Bunny, standing 166', is the tallest balloon in the world, 15' taller than the Statue of Liberty. Its ears alone are 60' long, the height of the average standard hot air balloon. Its capacity is 180,000 cubic feet - enough to hold 550,000,000 AA batteries! Not only was the Bunny an exceptional crewing experience, we were filmed by a "Ripley's Believe It Or Not!" crew for a TV episode. Watch for that episode and see if you can spot one or both of us.
